Notes on the state of Sasquatch.

February 17, 2011

2010 for me was spent in the dark.  Last year I justified not going to Sasquatch because I didn’t like the bands.  After 3 years of attendance my presence at the Gorge was halted, thus I complained ruthlessly. You have to be absent between the ears to ignore the fact that Sasquatch is the premier festival in the pac nw.  Haters have to understand that the bands on the lineup are only part of the reason to buy tickets.  Yes Canadian’s, SWAG, and drunken debauchery are all good and fun but the escape is what should captivate you.  Stories of desperate fans climbing the backside of the venue, the infamous 2009 dancer, seeing your blog favorites in their least intimate setting.

After a some time to digest the Sasquatch line up I’ve finally come to some conclusions.  Yes the headliners are old, and everyone needs to get past that.  If you grew up in the pacific northwest you have probably already seen the Foo Fighters, Death Cab, Modest Mouse, and The Decemberists. So, congratulations you! Take the chance to see artists you otherwise would care to see in a smaller venue.  At Sasquatch 2011, get weird, let your hair down, and don’t hold expectations. I’ll be going on Monday and I look forward to seeing everyone there.
