The Head and The Heart – thank you Ballard!

December 6, 2010

Never have I seen a local act explode as violently as The Head and The Heart.  This Ballard sextet has been on everyone’s radar lately (see The Sound on The Sound, I Am Fuel and You Are Friends, Three Imaginary Girls) and the signal is getting louder.  This December they are opening for Dave Matthews (boooo!) and Stornoway, and this Jan./Feb. they will be on tour with Dr. Dog.  This group isn’ just hype.  They stand in opposition to the tweed, plaid, and cowboy booted indie-folk revolution that has swept Seattle lately. The Head and The Heart’s pop licks leave you salivating, wanting more.  The best part besides their saggy beanies is that the girl in the band doesn’t even play bass.

Here are a couple of blurry snapshots I took at the Showbox Market last week when they opened for David Bazan.

Free waters and VIP. I got all my friends here hooked on them so I’m seeing them again with Stornoway in T-minus one week.
